Flight delays are not fun. No one wants to be stuck on a plane on the ground waiting for clearance to take off. I generally make the best of the delay and listen to music, get some work done, or play with my phone. One Delta flight attendant thought it was a good idea to let a child belt out a Disney song on a recent flight between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). I can’t imagine too many worse things to have to be forced to listen to during an already tense time. I’m sure the parents loved hearing their little darling sing, but did the other 200 passengers?

People have different feelings around children. I do not have any and am quite happy about this fact. I think allowing this child to sing was highly inappropriate and I would have gotten the flight attendant’s name to complain about this act. While it might be cute to some, you’re fueling potentially angry passengers with noise pollution. Noise cancelling headphones would have largely eliminated the issue, but this should not be imposed on everyone on the aircraft.

Anthony’s Take: If I wanted to listen to “How Far I’ll Go” from the Disney’s Moana, I’d watch the movie. This is not needed on a delayed flight or any for that matter. I’d also feel this way if it was an adult singing.

I’m with you, brother. Totally inappropriate. It reminds me of the time when I visited my chiropractor and he came out to the waiting room before my appointment and played the country and western song for me that he wrote. Pure torture but what can you do when you’re a captive audience?

I never came back after that appointment. True story.

BTW, also not unlike the pop-up ad I get when I visit your site. “ Best bras for women over 45.” Totally inappropriate.
But I know you don’t control your advertising

Sorry about that. Like you said, I don’t control the ads.

I think the singing should only have been piped in to the cockpit so the pilots could later show their appreciation to the FA for the entertainment.
