Last year, I wrote about Hyatt acquiring The Standard and Bunkhouse Hotels brands. The purchase added 21 properties to Hyatt’s portfolio across both brands. Bunkhouse Hotels are quirky, unique properties in the United States and Mexico. These are now rolling out as part of the World of Hyatt® loyalty program so that members can earn and redeem points as well as receive benefits for holding elite status. Seven of the 11 properties now have official start dates with four remaining unknown.

The properties that have been announced include:

Hyatt paid a base purchase price of $150 million (with up to an additional $185 million over time as additional properties enter the portfolio). The acquisition included more than 30 projects with a signed agreement or letter of intent, including new properties expected to open over the next 12 months. All of these properties will be integrated into Hyatt’s World of Hyatt® loyalty program in the future.

Laurie Blair, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Hyatt, said:

Bringing Bunkhouse Hotels into World of Hyatt means our members can now earn and redeem points at hotels where every detail—from the locally sourced décor and artisan-crafted cocktails to live music lineups and curated custom retail—celebrates the spirit of its community. We’re proud to preserve the spirit and soul of these hotels and can’t wait for our members to experience these authentic, design-driven escapes across the US and Mexico.”

Anthony’s Take: Some of these properties look fun. I love that Hyatt keeps expanding its footprint.
