An American backpacker named Liliana Goodson was arrested after attempting to bring a 24-carat gold plated handgun into Australia. The non-binary traveler (who uses they/them pronouns) says that they were traveling from Florida to Sydney to attend clown school.
American accused of smuggling a 24-carat, gold-plated semi-automatic gun into Sydney, Australia on Sunday unmasked as a heavily inked graphic designer who goes by the alias of 'River'.

Goodson has a concealed carry license in the United States, but is “scared of shooting” the gun. They were stopped at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) with a Colt .45-style pistol and ammunition in their luggage back in May 2023. Oddly, they were also carrying a “cat spine, squirrel feet, and rabbit pee” (according to The Daily Mail).
Goodson appeared before Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday after pleading not guilty to two charges of intentionally importing prohibited goods (the firearm and ammunition). The 29-year-old is now facing up to two years in prison and will argue that they were suffering from mental health issues at their sentencing in November.
Anthony’s Take: It’s not a good idea to carry firearms into other countries. I’m not sure what to say about the rest of the bizarre contents of their baggage.

Goodson also said that when they pull out the gun then attackers scatter. While there’s a lot of variable factors, people inclined to surround a victim don’t tend to run like vampires from a crucifix when you pull a gun. Instead they spread out so that even if you do shoot one, the others can get you and they’re unlikely to be happy you just shot one of them.
What in blazes is a “a Colt .45-style pistol “. LMAO
Maybe a “1911 style pistol”!
I’ve seen ones in that style (without the gold patina) that fire 9mm instead of .45.
