One of the first things I do when I enter a hotel room is to lock the deadbolt on the door. It’s too easy for random people to get a key and enter a room. A video has surfaced showing a random man (seemingly intoxicated) enter the hotel room of a group of teenage girls, ignore their screams, and begin to disrobe. Their parents thankfully run in and get the man out.
This situation could have ended terribly. Thankfully, it appears that the girls are okay (although understandably upset). There is no context as to where this video was shot and what hotel is pictured, but it’s a good reminder to always lock your door.
It’s also not always random people that you need to worry about. Back in May 2023, I wrote about a guest at the Hilton Nashville Downtown who was abruptly awoken to find someone sucking on his toes while he slept in his hotel room. The police report filed by the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department states that the night manager, David Neal, allegedly made a copy of the guest room key and used it to enter the guest’s room around 5:00 AM.
Anthony’s Take: Lock the door. Use the deadbolt. It’s not worth putting yourself at risk when your guard is down or you’re sleeping.
