SAS to Operate Out of the New JFK Terminal One When It Opens in 2026

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) announced today that it plans to move into the new Terminal One at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) when it opens in 2026. SAS is the ninth airline to commit to the new space that is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19 billion redevelopment at the airport.

SAS has hubs in Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN)Copenhagen Airport (CPH), and Oslo Airport (OSL). It flies to more than 130 destinations in 34 countries in EuropeNorth AmericaAsia, and Africa. The carrier has been flying to New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) since February 2023 with up to 2x daily service from Copenhagen Airport (CPH).

SAS will join Air China, Air France, Air Serbia, Etihad, EVA Air, KLM, Korean Air, and LOT Polish Airlines. The airline will join the SkyTeam alliance on September 1st (more here) and will benefit from the connection opportunities offered by fellow SkyTeam airline, Delta at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

When it’s completed in 2030, Terminal One will be the largest terminal at JFK. The terminal is being built on sites now occupied by the current Terminal One, the recently closed Terminal Two, and the former Terminal Three.

Anthony’s Take: The new Terminal One looks gorgeous and will serve as a great welcome to the United States for many travelers. Lets see which other airlines agree to make it their future home.
