I spent hours in the Delta One® Lounge at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on Sunday. Our flight was delayed for hours and I got to check out almost everything the lounge has to offer. It’s a beautiful space and blows away what American and United offer (it was also insanely crowded). While I was there, I saw two dogs being walked around the lounge (one was a Golden Retriever and the other another large mixed breed). Thankfully, I did not see anything as ridiculous as the dog posted on TikTok that’s seen eating off of its owner’s plate and then sleeping in a Delta One® seat.
@oliverbelles My review of the new @Delta One lounge @jfk✈️🌎 But seriously…what do you guys call this dessert?! 🤤 #fypage #maltipoo #dogsoftiktok #dogvoiceover @delta @Les Belles NYC
The Delta One® Lounge has an excellent assortment of food, both from its buffet area (which has staff serving pizza, salads, soups, desserts, and other items) as well as its sit-down restaurant.
We sampled some dishes from the buffet and then sat down in the restaurant. The Corn Agnolotti, Wagyu Beef Steak Frites, and Chocolate Soufflé were all what you’d expect from a restaurant in NYC or Las Vegas and not in an airport lounge.
The star of the TikTok video above is a Maltipoo named Oliver. He has his own TikTok account (@oliverbelles) and lives quite the life. His owner brought him into the Delta One® Lounge after claiming him as a service animal. What service he provides is beyond me. The video shows Oliver licking various dishes while his “mom” dines in the restaurant. Delta’s pet policy for its Sky Clubs® (and the same applies for the Delta One® Lounge) states “your pet must stay in its kennel.” Service animal policies get a bit greyer as they are allowed out of kennels, but I don’t think they’re allowed on the tables at the restaurant.
Anthony’s Take: The Delta One® Lounge was incredibly packed on Sunday. We took 10 minutes to find a seat. It’s a lovely space and I’ll have a full review soon. That said, there were two dogs with their owners while we were there (service dogs), but they were not on the tables or slurping off of their owner’s plates. I love dogs, but people game the system with service animals in order to bring their pets with them on vacation. This isn’t right, but it’s not going to change anytime soon given current laws. Just please keep the dogs off of the tables.
