Last week, I wrote about how American Airlines is killing its flights between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) on October 29th. Instead, it will start flying from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on October 28th. Now, Qatar Airways is adding a third daily flight on the route American dropped.
Qatar Airways will add a 3rd daily Doha (DOH) to New York (JFK) flight starting October 30 (14x ➡️ 21x weekly).
All JFK-DOH flights will operate using Qatar’s Boeing 777-300ER.
American Airlines will end its DOH-JFK route the day before. Qatar is picking up the lost capacity.

Qatar Airways will fly between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) 21x weekly starting on October 30th. Ishrion Aviation reports on Twitter that all three daily flights will be flown on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Qatar currently uses one Boeing 777 and an Airbus A350, so this will add a lot of capacity (Qatar’s 777-300ER planes hold at least 354 passengers depending on the layout).
Anthony’s Take: I find it impressive that Qatar Airways can support flying up to more than 1,000 passengers daily between New York and Doha. It will be interesting to see if it drops its Philadelphia flights since American will be flying the route.
