Back in December, I wrote about Marriott acquiring a national network of cabins known as Postcard Cabins. The outdoor lodging segment is booming. Hilton launched a partnership this year with AutoCamp to offer guests the ability to stay in custom Airstreams and luxury tents. Then, World of Hyatt® announced that Under Canvas’ 13 outdoor resorts were bookable as part of its Mr and Mrs Smith partnership back in July. Marriott entered the game and these properties are now bookable through the hotelier and participating in the Marriott Bonvoy® loyalty program.
The Postcard Cabins brand was formerly known as Getaway Outposts. The properties are groupings of tiny cabins located within two hours of major metropolitan areas. The cabins are dog-friendly and feature modern designs, private bathrooms, full kitchens, and ample space between cabins for privacy and relaxation. The current Postcard Cabins portfolio includes 29 properties with over 1,200 cabins across the United States.
The following five properties became bookable for paid stays on May 13th:
- Postcard Cabins Asheboro (Greensboro, NC)
- Postcard Cabins Blake Brook (Manchester, NH)
- Postcard Cabins Machimoodus (Hartford, CT)
- Postcard Cabins Mount Adams (Portland, OR)
- Postcard Cabins Talladega Valley (Birmingham, AL)
More properties should be added in the near future. Award stays at all properties are not yet available. Marriott Bonvoy® members will earn 10x points per $1 spent in addition to the standard elite-level bonuses. Stays will also earn on elite qualifying night for each night stayed.
Marriott Gold Elite members will receive an elite welcome gift of 500 points per stay. Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite members will have a choice of 1,000 points per stay or a $10 food-and-beverage credit per person, per night (up to two total) as a welcome amenity. Other benefits like complimentary Wi-Fi and lounge access will not apply at Postcard Cabins.
Anthony’s Take: I’m not into camping or glamping. I want a full-service, luxe hotel. I know the segment is hot, but I’ll stick to other properties with air conditioning, in-room dining, and a spa-like bathroom.
