Porter Airlines is a Toronto-based airline that connects passengers to more than 20 cities across Canada and the US. Today, it announced expanded service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Miami International Airport (MIA), Orlando International Airport (MCO), Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), Tampa International Airport (TPA) and the addition of flights to Palm Beach International Airport (PBI). Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL), and Ottawa International Airport (YOW) will also see several new and expanded routes.

These new flights are operated with a 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Porter promises that all passengers receive “celebrity treatment with Porter’s elevated economy experience.” It offers a 2-2 seating configuration and offers a premium experience to all passengers with complimentary snacks, beer and wine served in glassware, and free Wi-Fi.

Tampa International Airport (TPA)

My winter home is 15 minutes from Tampa International Airport (TPA) and it will see a big boost in its Canadian flights. These include:

  • Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) (new route will run 3x weekly starting on December 5th)
  • Ottawa International Airport (YOW) (new route will run 4x weekly starting on November 22nd)

Kevin Jackson, President at Porter Airlines, said:

Palm Beach International (PBI) is excited to welcome Porter to our destination. Having another travel option to Canada’s busiest airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), offers PBI passengers an easy, convenient way to travel whether they are enjoying a leisurely vacation, visiting family and friends or attending a business meeting.”

Anthony’s Take: I’ve flown Air Canada and WestJet (I compared their Business Class offerings here), but still have yet to try Porter Airlines. It looks like a comfortable ride and I hope to try it soon. These new Florida flights might make that a reality.
