Porter Airlines is a Toronto-based airline that connects passengers to 24 cities across Canada and the US. It announced today that it’s adding flights between Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) on June 1st.

Flights will begin 1x daily and will increase to 2x daily for the peak summer season (June 25th to September 7th). These new flights will be operated with Porter’s 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft. Porter promises that all passengers receive “celebrity treatment with Porter’s elevated economy experience.” It offers a 2-2 seating configuration and offers a premium experience to all passengers with complimentary snacks, beer and wine served in glassware, and free Wi-Fi. PorterReserve passengers enjoy additional benefits such as priority check-in, enhanced legroom, and fresh, healthy meals, while these features can also be purchased à la carte with PorterClassic fares.

This is the third route that Porter will fly to/from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). It also offers flights to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and Ottawa International Airport (YOW). Porter also recently announced that it will begin flying to New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) on May 1st.

Andrew Pierce, Vice President, Network Planning and Reporting at Porter Airlines, said:

Newark Airport has been a key part of Porter’s network since the launch of our Billy Bishop – Newark service in 2008. Adding a nonstop route from Montréal will make the New York area even more accessible for our passengers, giving them more options to choose from when planning their trips to the Empire State.”

Anthony’s Take: Porter Airlines seems to have good reviews and it keeps growing in the Northeast. Passengers in the New York area will soon have even more options to get to Canada.
