Plans for the Park Hyatt London River Thames were first announced in 2020. London has one of the most impressive luxury hotel markets, but the Park Hyatt brand had been missing. That changes this week with the opening of this hotel.

The 203-room is located in the fast-transforming South West London district of Nine Elms. The hotel is part of the One Nine Elms development, which is a mixed-use skyscraper project, is a fairly ambitious project to revitalize the area. This hotel is not near most of the major tourist hotspots, but the area is hoping to grow its own share of travelers with attractions like the Battersea Power Station, which was recently named one of London’s most popular attractions as well as the historic Kia Oval Cricket Ground and the Tate Britain.

The interiors of Park Hyatt London River Thames offer a contemporary interpretation of classic English style. This includes a neutral and muted design that is standard for Park Hyatt hotels (I find many of them understated and elegant). The hotel’s entrance features a Charlie Whinney installation called “Ebb and Flow.” It’s inspired by the river. Throughout the property, guests can find art from several well-known artists, including Ian Rayer-Smith, Jo Taylor, Françoise Delaire, Gabriel Leung, George Blacklock, and Ewan David.

The hotel’s guestrooms include wall coverings by the iconic English textile designer William Morris with a color palette of white and ebony accented by leather and brass. Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure every room is filled with natural light and many rooms offer guests sweeping views of the river Thames, the Houses of Parliament, and the City of London.

Amenities include a spa with panoramic river views, a 1,550-square-foot fitness center, an indoor pool, and 14,337 square feet of meeting space. There are three dining venues at the hotel. These include The Nine Elms Kitchen & Terrace, The Nine Elms Bar & Lounge, and TAMISé Tea Lounge & Wine Library. The hotel’s Executive Chef, Fabrice Lasnon, brings over 35 years’ experience to the venue. The hotel’s fourth venue, a Cantonese restaurant, is expected to open later this year.

Rike Erdbrink, General Manager of the Park Hyatt London River Thames, said:

Bringing the flagship Park Hyatt hotel to life has been a privilege. This hotel embodies understated luxury, where personalized service and a warm atmosphere create a true sense of home and belonging in London. With its central location and thoughtful design, the hotel positions London in a new light, primed to accommodate discerning travelers looking for elevated experiences.”

Anthony’s Take: I love the Park Hyatt brand and have had amazing stays in Chicago, New York, Vienna, Zurich, and more. This property might not be the most conveniently located, but it looks gorgeous.
