Pakistan International Airlines resumed flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on Friday. There is nothing particularly controversial about this route, but the way that it was announced has alarmed many with a depiction of an airplane seemingly flying into the Eiffel Tower.

The social media post above has been cited as being reminiscent of the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11. The messaging even seems ominous. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency had imposed a ban on Pakistan International Airlines because of an “irresponsible statement” by a former aviation minister according to The Associated Press.
The airline had a flight crash in May 2020 that took the lives of 97 on board. Human error on the part of the pilot, co-pilot, and air traffic control was blamed for the accident near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport (KHI).
This is not the only recent airline announcement that has created controversy. In November. Royal Jordanian Airlines announced that it’s going to begin flying to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) with a rather unconventional announcement video.
Anthony’s Take: I don’t think the execution was intended to be malicious, but it was not well thought out. The inaugural flight took off without incident on Friday and will continue hopefully with no further attention.

Didn’t PIA sacrifice a goat outside an airplane to appease… well, some power or other in Karachi a few years ago? Moves like that don’t exactly leave you bursting with confidence in the ability of airline management.
