A new video has surfaced on TikTok (from user @ferrarishreds) that shows an Alaska Airlines’ agent shouting at customers in baggage claim at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Passengers were upset that their checked bags were delayed more than an hour and she unloads on them (even going as far as threatening to call the police).
@ferrarishreds Normal day at newark airport. Bags delayed for 1 hour stuck in the carousel
I lived in Hoboken, NJ for many years and was a loyal Continental and then United flyer. Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) was my home base and I have never encountered worse customer service at any other airport globally. From agents refusing to add me to standby to snapping at customers during irregular operations, there is a special breed of agent in this airport. Even as a Global Services member, I encountered some nasty attitudes.
The agent is clearly worked up and even as other passengers try to de-escalate the situation, she keeps snapping at them. You can hear her say “don’t overspeak me” and “back up.” This agent has clearly had enough, but she is also in a customer service position where a little patience is needed.
Anthony’s Take: It’s unknown what was said before the video begins, but the man in the video is nowhere near her. Threatening to call the police is ridiculous and just a flex of her envisioned power.
