Eric Nicholas Gapco, age 26, from Delanco, NJ has been charged with interference with flight crew members and attempted damage to an aircraft. He now faces up to 20 years in jail and a fine of up to $35,000 if found guilty. He freaked out on American Airlines flight AA2102 between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), caused a diversion, and ended up arrested on July 18th.

KSL TV 5 reports that during the flight, Gapco allegedly vaped, refused to stay seated, locked himself in the lavatory, propositioned a flight attendant for sex, and attempted to open emergency exits in both the front and rear of the aircraft. Crew members and other passengers restrained him with flexcuffs. The flight diverted to Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) where law enforcement met the aircraft and arrested him.  As he was being exited from the plane, he was reportedly singing “you say potato, I say potato” and had removed his shirt. He has now been indicted. Gapco claims that he ate 10 marijuana edibles before the flight and blames his behavior on the drugs.

Anthony’s Take: Taking excessive edibles and then boarding a plane is a bad idea. This passenger is now in lots of trouble and likely banned from American.
