I had stayed at the Hyatt Regency Columbus a few weeks ago (review here) and had to return on business again last week. The hotel worked well for what I needed on this trip as well. It was a short ride to my event and there were plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. I focused on a lot of the amenities in my last review and this one will focus solely on the suite upgrade I received.

Anthony’s Take: The Hyatt Regency Columbus is a functional and convenient business hotel in Columbus’ Arena District. I was proactively upgraded to a suite (like last time but bigger on this visit) and found the staff as friendly as last time. The hotel does not have a Club Lounge, but breakfast as well as vouchers for appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages are provided (I again did not have time for breakfast or apps during my short stay).

Hyatt Regency Columbus Rate

Booking

I once again booked 1 King Bed room on a Standard Rate of $197 plus taxes and fees. The hotel is a Category 2 property and room redemptions range from 6,500 to 9,500 per night when redeeming World of Hyatt points for a standard room.

Transportation to/from the Hotel

I took an Uber Comfort from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH). The approximately 7.1-mile ride took 12 minutes and cost $31. I returned to the airport the next evening in the same way and at a similar cost.

Check-in

I arrived at the hotel around 3:00 PM and my suite was ready. The lobby was nicely decorated for the holidays. Reception lines one wall of the lobby. The agent checking me in informed me that I was upgraded to a VIP Suite. I did not need late checkout, but was not asked. The hotel does not have a Club Lounge and I was given a voucher for an appetizer and non-alcoholic beverage. Breakfast would also be provided on the second floor. I had my key a few moments later and was on the way to my suite.

Overall Impression:

The Hyatt Regency Columbus gets the job done if you’re staying there for a conference or nearby meetings downtown. Elite benefits are great at this hotel and I was proactively given an upgrade to a huge suite. The hotel makes up for not having a Club Lounge for what it gives in vouchers. I’ll definitely be back.
