Marriott Bonvoy® and Uber have had a partnership since 2021. When staying at Marriott hotels and taking Uber rides or ordering from Uber Eats, members earned bonus Marriott Bonvoy® points. This partnership is changing some of its terms and earning rates are being cut in some instances while an opportunity for Silver Elite status is now on offer.

Uber Marriott

Currently (through October 13th), you can earn bonus Marriott Bonvoy® points as follows:

  • 6x Marriott Bonvoy® points per $1 spent on Uber Eats restaurant and grocery deliveries to Marriott hotels (a minimum $40 purchase is required)
  • 2x Marriott Bonvoy® points per $1 spent on Uber Eats restaurant and grocery deliveries to non-Marriott hotels (a minimum $40 purchase is required)
  • 3x Marriott Bonvoy® points per $1 spent on Uber XL, Comfort, SUV, and Black rides

On October 14th, these earnings change and members will begin to receive the following:

  • 2x Marriott Bonvoy® points per $1 spent on Uber Eats restaurant and grocery deliveries to Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, or Element branded hotels
  • 1x Marriott Bonvoy® points per $1 spent on all Uber Eats restaurant and grocery deliveries (the minimum $40 purchase is  no longer required)
  • 3x Marriott Bonvoy® points per $1 spent on Uber XL, Comfort, SUV, and Black rides
  • 3x Marriott Bonvoy® points per $1 spent on pre-scheduled UberX rides

Marriott Silver

If you hold Uber’s paid Uber One membership ($9.99 per month), you can now receive Marriott Bonvoy® Silver Elite status. This status does not get you much, but it’s better than nothing for the occasional traveler.

This is a devaluation, but I’m not too upset. I earn most of my bonus Marriott Bonvoy® points through Uber Comfort and Uber Black rides. Earning is not changing there.

Anthony’s Take: If you order a lot from Uber Eats while staying at Marriott hotels than you’ll likely see the difference here. For others, it will be a subtle drop. I’m just happy the earning on rides have not changed.
