Marriott International, Inc. announced today that it plans to expand its footprint in France with the addition of 10 hotels and more than 1,000 rooms by the end of 2025. Marriott currently operates 69 hotels across 16 brands and 29 cities, including Paris, Nice, Cannes, Lyon, Strasbourg, Marseille, Reims, Lille, Bordeaux, and Toulouse.
Alexandra Goguet, Vice President of Development, France and Benelux, Marriott International, said:
We remain focused on strengthening our presence in primary and secondary markets in France in line with the strong demand we are seeing for leisure and resort experiences, as well as for business travel. With our captivating portfolio of brands, world-class distribution platform and Marriott Bonvoy, our award-wining travel program, we continue to drive robust growth opportunities with owners and franchisees in the market.”
Marriott plans to add hotels across its mid-range, select service, and luxury brands. Here are some of the properties on the horizon:
- Hôtel du Couvent, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nice (opens in 2024)
- Moxy Paris Clamart (opens in 2024)
- Moxy Annecy (opens in 2024)
- Moxy Nice (opens in 2025)
- Residence Inn by Marriott Lille (opens in 2025)
- Courtyard by Marriott Lyon East (opens in 2025)
- Aloft Dijon (opens in 2025)
Anthony’s Take: I’m always happy to see Marriott expand in Europe especially in smaller cities and places where there have not historically been properties under the umbrellas of a major player.
