The Adelaide Marriott Hotel opened today and serves as the 600th hotel that Marriott has opened in the Asia Pacific region (excluding China). The opening is also the first Marriott International property in South Australia.

The 150-year-old Adelaide General Post Office (GPO) building has been transformed into the Adelaide Marriott Hotel. It boasts a 14-story tower with 285 guestrooms (including 12 suites) and sweeping views of the city skyline. The airport is only a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Dining options include a casual, modern Australian restaurant and an evening bar with laneway seating. Amenities include a 24-hour fitness center and an 18-meter indoor pool.

Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific excluding China at Marriott International, said:

We are thrilled to celebrate our 600th property milestone in the region with the Adelaide Marriott Hotel, a brand that bears the name of our founding family. With 600 operational properties across the APEC region and close to 400 in the pipeline, our growth trajectory is robust. Our strategy to be everywhere our guests want us to be is further reinforced by our recent announcement of plans to enter the midscale hospitality segment, providing more opportunities to extend our portfolio presence in new markets and beyond the major gateway cities.”

Anthony’s Take: Marriott continues to grow with both new openings and partnerships like the Sonder agreement signed earlier this week (more here). There is a hotel in just about every market and Marriott doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
