Marriott is partners with several airlines including United, Emirates, and Singapore. Yesterday, it announced that it’s strengthening the partnership it holds with Cathay Pacific by offering expanded benefits as well as status matches.
With this partnership, 11 million Cathay members will be connected with Marriott’s portfolio of nearly 8,800 hotels and resorts globally. Marriott Bonvoy® members will have increased reasons to choose Cathay as they’ll be granted elite status (at certain levels) and see additional benefits when flying.
New Reciprocal Benefits
- Two-Way Points Conversion: Marriott Bonvoy® points can be converted to Asia Miles at a 3:1 ratio. Asia Miles can become Marriott Bonvoy® points at a 2:1 ratio.
- Elite Status and Fast Track to Higher Levels: Marriott Bonvoy® Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite members are matched to Silver status with Cathay Pacific. This can be fast tracked to Gold or Platinum with reduced point needs. Cathay Silver, Gold, and Diamond members are matched to Marriott Bonvoy® Gold. They can earn Platinum by staying 10 nights in six months.
The partnership with Cathay Pacific is in line with the benefits we’ve seen with other airlines and Marriott. Learn more.
Alison Yang, Vice President, Revenue Strategy, Loyalty & Partnerships, Distribution, Greater China, Marriott International, said:
As the travel industry continues to transform, we are committed to curating and delivering the best experiences to connect our members through the power of travel. Together with Cathay, the expansion of our global airline partnership program presents an opportunity to engage more members in the region as they go even further and explore new destinations around the world. By unlocking a new wealth of rewards and privileges with both loyalty programs, members are encouraged to partake in a broader variety of experiences and benefits, while forging genuine connections with people and places as they learn more and feel more deeply in their next adventures.”
Marriott’s partnership with Emirates Skywards offers some benefits and earning opportunities. Marriott Bonvoy® Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite members also enjoy in-airport benefits like priority check-in and priority boarding.
Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold, and Platinum members earn one Skywards Mile per $1 spent on all eligible stays at Marriott Bonvoy® hotels and resorts worldwide. Emirates Skywards Gold and Platinum members also enjoy additional benefits at Marriott Bonvoy® hotels and resorts, including 4:00 PM Late Checkout, access to Elite check-in, and complimentary in-room Wi-Fi.
Marriott Bonvoy® Titanium and Ambassador Elite members receive complimentary United MileagePlus® Premier® Silver status. United MileagePlus® Premier® Gold, Platinum, 1K®, and Global Services members can enjoy complimentary Marriott Bonvoy® Gold Elite status. Link your accounts here.
Marriott Bonvoy® Gold Elite members are eligible to upgrade to KrisFlyer Elite Silver for 12 months with just two flights on Singapore Airlines within six months of linking accounts. Marriott Bonvoy® Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite members receive complimentary KrisFlyer Elite Silver status for 12 months. If they also hold KrisFlyer Elite Silver status, they can upgrade to KrisFlyer Elite Gold for 12 months with just four flights on Singapore Airlines within six months of linking accounts. Marriott Bonvoy members can register here.
Anthony’s Take: These programs offer elite members of various airlines the ability to try out some of the program’s benefits. The good news is that you’re not limited to one and you can match to any or all of them with your Marriott Bonvoy® status.

My attempt to do the match didn’t work. The Cathay page said, “error – please contact Marriott.” Maybe because my platinum elite status with Marriott will be downgraded to Gold in March. I don’t know 🤷♀️
The promo is dead. Not sure why all these BA bloggers are still spamming about it.
