It’s common knowledge that you need to be on board an airplane at least 15 minutes (if not longer) before departure time. One passenger at Miami International Airport (MIA) showed up too late and learned the hard way that the gate was closed. He breaks down on the phone with someone wailing and complaining about the missed Air Europa flight.

The man’s fake crying is the funniest part of this video. He can turn it on and off at will and has an interesting exchange with the gate agent. Air Europa operates 1x daily service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). Since this passenger missed the flight, he’ll need to wait until 9:30 PM the next evening to get to Spain.
I like that he tries to get sympathy from the gate agents, tells them he’s a teacher, kind, and a beautiful person. He attempts to get the gate agents to talk to his husband on the phone and vacillates between complimenting them and acting like an upset toddler. The video ends with the gate agent telling him that rebooking is next to Gate D37. He replies, “I don’t need your help” and storms off.
Anthony’s Take: Always get to your gate at least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. I like to be early and am waiting before boarding begins on 99.9% of my flights. This man learned the hard way and his theatrics are quite comical.
