A man from India was arrested after Etihad Airways flight EY7 landed at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) on October 22nd. Krishna Kunapuli, 39, was charged with committing lewd, indecent, or obscene acts after he allegedly touched a female passenger and openly masturbated on the flight.
The Boston Globe reports that an FBI agent’s sworn affidavit filed in federal court stated that a woman was seated in a nearby aisle seat with the two next to her open. Kunapuli reportedly asked the woman if he could sit next to her while waiting for the lavatory. The woman agreed, Kunapuli began making small talk, and then complimented the woman’s appearance. He then allegedly offered her a $5,000 cash “gift” while touching her hair. The female passenger got up and went to the galley, but was followed by Kunapuli. He touched her again and she asked him to stop.
A flight attendant came into the galley and mistook them for a couple because Kunapuli was touching her breast. The flight attendant saw the woman back away while Kunapuli was taking photos of her. He asked what was going on, was told by the woman, and then ordered them both back to their respective seats (apart from each other).
A man seated near Kunapuli told investigators that he saw him sitting with a blanket over his lap while watching something on his phone. He believed Kunapuli was masturbating under the blanket and later saw Kunapuli’s exposed penis. The affidavit states that this lasted for about 10 minutes. Another passenger woke up from a nap and also noticed Kunapuli masturbating. This passenger asked and was allowed to switch seats.
A crew member confronted Kunapuli and told him what was reported. He then zipped up his pants. Upon landing, crew identified Kunapuli to police and FBI agents. He was arrested and removed from the aircraft. He remains in federal custody.
Anthony’s Take: Some people have serious problems. Kunapuli’s behavior is disgusting and if all is accurately reported than he should receive a quick and decisive punishment. Not okay.
