Lufthansa first announced its new premium cabins in 2017. The pandemic and a host of other issues with manufacturers have set this project back, but the good news is that the first Airbus A350-900 with Allegris installed will take flight on May 1st from Munich International Airport (MUC) to Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Vancouver will be the first destination served with an Allegris outfitted aircraft. Upcoming destinations include Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), and Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). I’m excited that Chicago is one of the first cities to be served with this new cabin.

The rollout timeline looks like this:

  • Allegris Business Class will launch on new Airbus A350-900s out of Munich International Airport (MUC) starting on May 1st.
  • Newly delivered Boeing 787-9s will have the Allegris Business Class seating. Those will start flying out of Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) will start in July 2024.
  • Allegris First Class is set to launch on new Airbus A350-900s flying out of Munich International Airport (MUC) in September.

The Airbus A350-900 aircraft will have three cabins including Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy. The Boeing 787-9 aircraft will also include a First Class cabin.

Lufthansa says:

Guests who are already booked on these flights will be notified of their ‘upgrade’ to the new cabin. Seat reservations in Business Class are free of charge in the first few months and can be made and changed conveniently via the familiar booking channels. Passengers can see whether a flight is equipped with the Allegris product three weeks before departure.”

The quote above makes me wonder how seats will be priced in the future. There will be three types of seats available:
  • Classic Seat
  • Extra Space Seat
  • Privacy Seat

Anthony’s Take: I love flying Lufthansa and cannot wait to try out both the Business Class and First Class seats. Why it needs to be called Allegris (similar to United’s Polaris) is beyond me, but it looks great.

Wow, I think Skytrax should give Lufthansa five stars based on this seat.
