I had some time at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) this week and got to check out two of the United Clubs℠. I tried to visit the Capital One Lounge, but the wait time was excessive. Like the other two United Clubs℠ in this airport, the location near Gate C17 is not a bad place to work or relax before a flight. I just wish it had some windows as you feel like you’re in an office building or basement.
Access
Access is granted for those with United Club℠ memberships, day passes from Chase co-branded credit cards or purchased for $59, Global Services® members, United passengers with Gold or higher status traveling internationally, international Business or First Class passengers traveling on a Star Alliance flight, and Star Alliance Gold members regardless of class flown. You can find more information about these lounges and their access rules here. When you enter, credentials are checked at the desk straight ahead.
An elevator and the stairs are to the left of the desk.
The lounge itself is located one floor down from reception.
A second desk is downstairs to assist with reservations.
It was decorated for Christmas during my visit.
Anthony’s Take: This lounge was not busy when I visited. I easily found a seat and used the business center to do some work. It offered the same buffet as the other two locations at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and represented a marked upgrade from what United had been serving. The Polaris® Lounge is located directly across the hall from this United Club℠.
Bar
The bar is situated near the desk downstairs. It looks like a temporary setup and offers beer and wine only here.
A coffee machine is located near the buffet.
Drip coffee was also found here.
Water dispensers were around the corner.
A Coca-Cola Freestyle machine was next to the water, but most choices were not available.
Food
The food in the United Clubs℠ has improved over the past few years and is even better than it was pre-Covid. This lounge offered a selection of sandwiches, soup, salad ingredients, a taco bar, snacks, fruit, and dessert.
Mushroom Bisque
Roasted Turkey Sandwiches
Hummus Bi Tahina Wraps
Cheese
Salad ingredients
Chips & Salsa
The taco bar was to the side.
BBQ Smoked Pulled Pork
Tortillas
Apple Crisp was on a separate table along with honeydew.
Snacks were nearby along with whole wrapped fruit.
Seating & Decor
There is lots of seating throughout including workstations, chairs, and some tables. Design is minimal and feels like a dated office building with mostly everything in grey and beige.
More seats
The lower reception area probably had the most decor.
Tables for working
Tables for dining
The back area had cubicles for business calls. There are no soundproof phone booths in the lounge.
Amenities
This United Club℠ offers free Wi-Fi, departure boards, restrooms, magazines (pictured above), and the food and beverages mentioned above.
There is also a FedEx drop-off box near the stairs.
Overall Impression:
This United Club℠ is fine for killing some time before or after a flight. It feels dated, but gets the job done.

Anytime I see that fake wood paneling in any airline lounge, I die a little bit inside.
