While traveling through Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) yesterday, I had the chance to check out United’s newest lounge. The space used to be occupied by the Delta Sky Club® before that vacated and the new one was built in Terminal 5.

Access

Access is granted for those with United Club℠ memberships, day passes from Chase co-branded credit cards or purchased for $59, Global Services® members, United passengers with Gold or higher status traveling internationally, international Business or First Class passengers traveling on a Star Alliance flight, and Star Alliance Gold members regardless of class flown. You can find more information about these lounges and their access rules here. When you enter, credentials are checked at the desk to the left.

Anthony’s Take: I used to enjoy this space as a Delta Sky Club®. I’m glad that United was able to take it over, remodel it, and use it until Terminal 2 is demolished and a new terminal is built in its place. This United Club℠ offers only cold food and self-serve wine and beer, but it’s a nice, not-too-crowded place to wait for a flight.

Bar

There isn’t a true bar in this lounge. One area offers self-serve beer and wine while coffee, water, and soft drinks are found elsewhere in the lounge.

United Club ORD E 3

Self-serve beer with Sam Adams Boston Lager, Blue Moon, and Miller Lite as well as prosecco and wine.

United Club ORD E 4

Plain water and Apple Ginger Water are nearby.

United Club ORD E 5

A coffee machine, drip coffee, and tea are found near the buffet.

United Club ORD E 6

A Coca-Cola Freestyle machine is also here.

United Club ORD E 7

More water and wrapped fruit are near the entrance.

United Club ORD E 9

Food

The food in this United Club℠ is lacking compared to others since there is no hot food other than soup. I visited during lunch and the buffet had some sandwiches, mezze ingredients, chips & salsa, cheese and meats, salads, snacks, and some desserts.

Seating & Decor

There are lots of seating configurations throughout including workstations, chairs, and some tables near the buffet. It was not too busy when I visited. Decor is pretty limited throughout the lounge.

Amenities

This United Club℠ offers free Wi-Fi, a departures board, restrooms, some pods for taking phone calls, and the food and beverages mentioned above.

United Club ORD E 23

These are great for Zoom calls.

There is a desk for passenger assistance, but it was not staffed during my visit.

Overall Impression:

This United Club℠ is nice additional space in Terminal 2. I’m happy that United opened it up and is offering guests another option in Chicago (even though it is temporary).

Thanks for this. I too spent a LOT of time in this space when it was a Sky Club. I always ranked its staff as up there with FLL for helpfulness (and managing an inordinate amount of Medallions trying to get on earlier flights). The UA layout looks much less claustrophobic. I used to make a beeline for the work stations against the window in the back room (which you could still barely get in/out of due to the proximity of chairs behind). Looks like a nice alternative. Of my now 96 UA segments YTD, I’ve had 57 on UA Express so I spend a lot of time in that neck of the woods…
