On our way home from Copenhagen and London, we had some time in the United Club℠ at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). This has long been one of my favorite lounges that United operates and it is divided into two sections: one half is a regular United Club℠ and one half used to be reserved for First Class and Global Services passengers. United started letting some 1K® passengers use it and now I’m not sure who exactly has access as I heard agents allowing some seated in Polaris® into the space. This review is only of this part of the lounge as I was not there long enough to head to the other part.

Access
Access is granted for those with United Club℠ memberships, day passes from Chase co-branded credit cards or purchased for $59, Global Services® members, United passengers with Gold or higher status traveling internationally, international Business or First Class passengers traveling on a Star Alliance flight, and Star Alliance Gold members regardless of class flown. You can find more information about these lounges and their access rules here. The lounge is an elevator ride up and then you need to cross the hall. When you enter the lounge, you need to check in at the desk that is located directly inside the entrance.
Anthony’s Take: This is one of my favorite United Clubs℠. I hope that the separate, smaller section is kept semi-private for Polaris® customers and Global Services members, but who knows what the future holds. It has a decent buffet, is not too crowded, and always feels welcoming.

You need to take the elevator up one level and agents are seated directly in front to check credentials. They decide if you head left to the main United Club℠ or to the right to the more intimate side. One of the elevators was out of service during our visit.

There is a desk that used to be staffed with United agents upon entering the smaller side of the lounge.

Bar
On the right side of the lounge, you’ll find a self-serve bar. There is a decent selection of wine and liquor here including everything needed for a Bloody Mary in the morning.

Other beer, wine, and soft drinks were found in refrigerated cases under the bar.

This included juice in the morning.

Food
The food in the United Clubs℠ is hit or miss depending on the location. The lounge at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) makes you feel a sense of place and had a full English Breakfast on offer during this visit.

Cold cuts, cheese, fruit, and yogurt were also available.

Muffins and croissants

Fresh fruit

Condiments

Seating & Decor
There are lots of seating configurations throughout the lounge including couches, dining tables, and more. I loved that the decor had many nods to London and United Airlines throughout the lounge.

Seating is to the left and right when you walk into the lounge.

It was not crowded during our visit and we had plenty of space.

I found a table in the small circular section. This has always been my favorite part of the lounge.

The area near the buffet had the most people seated around it.

Amenities
This United Club℠ offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, showers (shared with the other half of the lounge), magazines, departure boards, and the food and beverages mentioned above.
Overall Impression:
This United Club℠ has a great design, good buffet, friendly service, and plenty of space to comfortably work or relax. This is definitely one of my favorites.
