On my way to Dallas for a business dinner, I had a connection at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). This gave me the opportunity to check out one of the smallest United Clubs℠ I have ever spent time in near Gate A9. The lounge is basically one room filled with chairs along with a bar and small buffet. My connecting flight departed from Gate A9, so the location could not have been better.
Access
Access is granted for those with United Club℠ memberships, day passes from Chase co-branded credit cards or purchased for $59, Global Services® members, United passengers with Gold or higher status traveling internationally, international Business or First Class passengers traveling on a Star Alliance flight, and Star Alliance Gold members regardless of class flown. You can find more information about these lounges and their access rules here. When you approach the lounge, you need to check in at the desk that is located straight ahead.
Anthony’s Take: Was it crowded? A little bit. Did it offer much in terms of amenities? No. Would I return if I was flying from Concourse A? Sure. The space was small, but I found a seat and got some work done. The buffet was rather sparse, but everything was fresh since I was there when they set it up.
Bar
The bar takes up the back wall of the lounge. There is a variety of paid and complimentary beer, wine, and spirits here. The free offerings are pretty basic, but the paid selections are not too badly priced.
The coffee machine is located on the corner of the bar.
Tea bags and condiments are nearby.
Water and fresh fruit were located near the entrance.
Food
The food in the United Clubs℠ continues to be hit or miss. It’s better than it was during the pandemic, but it still trails Delta’s Sky Clubs® by quite a bit. Lunch was being served during my visit. There was a taco bar with pulled pork, sandwiches, salad ingredients, chips and salsa, cheese and fruit, soup, snacks, and desserts on offer. The buffet was completely empty when I arrived, but was refilled with lunch moments later.

Seating & Decor
This is a good amount of seating packed into this small space. In addition to the main room, there is a small space with a counter and some luggage storage. Decor is minimal, but there were a few quirky pieces to brighten up the space.
Almost every seat was taken during my visit.
This bird cage with a boot inside was near the entrance.
Amenities
This United Club℠ offers free Wi-Fi, departure boards, and the food and beverages mentioned above. There are no restrooms (you need to exit to the terminal) or other amenities here.
Overall Impression:
The United Club℠ near Gate A9 provides basic amenities like food, drinks, and Wi-Fi. It’s a tiny space, but nice to have near the A gates.
