After checking out the United Club℠ near Gate C17 (review here) at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) last week, I tried to visit the Capital One Lounge, but the wait time was excessive. Instead, I went back near the United gates and spent some time in the United Club℠ near Gate C7. This lounge has a big advantage over the C17 location in that it has lots of windows that provide light and views of the aircraft outside.
Access
Access is granted for those with United Club℠ memberships, day passes from Chase co-branded credit cards or purchased for $59, Global Services® members, United passengers with Gold or higher status traveling internationally, international Business or First Class passengers traveling on a Star Alliance flight, and Star Alliance Gold members regardless of class flown. You can find more information about these lounges and their access rules here. When you enter, credentials are checked at the desk straight ahead.
The lounge opens up just past the front desk.
Anthony’s Take: This lounge was not busy when I visited. I easily found a seat and relaxed before my flight. It offered the same buffet as the other two locations at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and represented a marked upgrade from what United had been serving. I love that this lounge has lots of windows (unlike the one near Gate C17).
Bar
The bar is situated in the middle of the lounge. It offers some wine, beer, and spirits for free along with premium options for purchase.
The bar had a $6 Grey Goose cocktail offered during my visit.
A coffee machine, tea, drip coffee, and condiments were found in an alcove near the front of the lounge.
A Coca-Cola Freestyle machine was next to the buffet. Water was also found here.
Food
The food in the United Clubs℠ has improved over the past few years and is even better than it was pre-Covid. This lounge offered the same selection of sandwiches, soup, salad ingredients, a taco bar, snacks, fruit, and dessert that was found in the one by C17.
Mushroom Bisque Soup
Pulled Barbecue Pork
Flour Tortillas
Toppings for tacos
Salad ingredients
Fruit and Chips & Salsa
Roasted Turkey Sandwiches and Hummus Bi Tahina Wraps
Cheese
Apple Cinnamon Crisp
Snacks
Whole fruit
Seating & Decor
There is lots of seating throughout including workstations, chairs, and some tables. Design is minimal, but feels a little less dated than the location near C17.
The back of the lounge has a small business center with cubicles.
Amenities
This United Club℠ offers free Wi-Fi, departure boards, restrooms, magazines (pictured above), and the food and beverages mentioned above.
A big TV filled the center of the room.
Departure boards were in several spots.
Overall Impression:
This United Club℠ is was nicer than the location near Gate C17. It’s a little bland design-wise, but was a good spot to relax before my flight.

My favorite of the Clubs at IAD… I’ve had a few times this year where due to a missed connection I’ve had 3-4 hours to kill until the next bank of flights and have waited in there (one time I was completely by myself for TWO hours). Food set up is better and the windows help a lot.
I like connecting at IAD as usually the connections are minimal time…. I’ve also had some very very wonderful UA Club agents there (and honestly gate agents too) who have turned around some travels gone awry.
