I was in Fort Worth for a conference today and had the chance to check out the United Club℠ at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on my return to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). While not one of the largest or fanciest lounges that I have been to recently, it was comfortable, not too crowded, and offered one of the tastiest lunches that I have had in a United Club℠ in some time.
Access
Access is granted for those with United Club℠ memberships, day passes from Chase co-branded credit cards or purchased for $59, Global Services® members, United passengers with Gold or higher status traveling internationally, international business or first-class passengers traveling on a Star Alliance flight, and Star Alliance Gold members regardless of class flown. You can find more information about these lounges and their access rules here. The lounge is located near Gate E7. A desk immediately inside the entrance on the left side had an agent checking credentials.
The lounge is decked out for Halloween next week.
Anthony’s Take: I have a United Club℠ membership again and make it a point to stop by when I’m flying United. I had never visited this location before but found a table to work and enjoy the fall-themed buffet. The Albondigas (meatballs) and Butternut Squash Tortellini were both quite tasty. I didn’t have the appetite for a slice of Pumpkin Pie (my favorite) that was on offer.
Bar
The bar lines almost the entire side wall just past the check in desk. There is a small variety of paid and complimentary beer, wine, and spirits here. The free offerings are pretty basic, but the paid selections are not too badly priced.
A water station was near the bar. Wrapped fruit and some candy was also available here.
A self-serve coffee machine was at the end of the buffet.
A selection of tea could also be found here.
A Coca-Cola FreeStyle machine was also found here. I really wish that these offered ginger ale.
Food
The food in most United Clubs℠ is lacking compared to Delta’s Sky Clubs® or the American Express Centurion Lounges. I was pleasantly surprised during this visit as the seasonal offerings were quite tasty. I visited during lunch and the buffet had soup, salad ingredients, sandwiches, hummus, snacks, and desserts.
Albondigas in Cranberry Brown Gravy
Butternut Squash Tortellini
Broccoli Cheese Soup
Salads and sandwiches
More salad ingredients
Hummus, pita, and grapes
Pumpkin Pie and Brownies
Snack mix and pretzels
Seating
There are lots of seating configurations throughout including workstations, chairs, and many tables near the buffet. It was not busy when we visited and I found a quiet corner table.
Lots of tables are near the buffet.
More comfortable seats and workstations were in several smaller areas around the lounge.
These two seats are across from the check-in desk. I’d say they’re more decorative than useful since they are right inside the entrance.
Amenities
This United Club℠ offers free Wi-Fi, a departures board, restrooms, and the food and beverages mentioned above.
Overall Impression:
This United Club℠ is a good size for an airport that is an outstation for United. I found it pleasant and enjoyed the meal I had there.
