SWISS operates a whopping 10 lounges in its Zurich Airport (ZRH) hub. Perhaps the most charming of this lot is the SWISS Alpine Lounge in Terminal A. This is one of SWISS’ newest lounges and the one with the most character in the airport. I had the chance to check it out while on our way to Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport (BRI) this week.

There are several screens displaying Swiss scenes as you walk up the stairs.

Access

Access is granted to passengers flying in Lufthansa Group First Class or Business Class, those with Senator or HON Circle status, and Star Alliance Gold Members. Star Alliance Gold members plus one guest are allowed in regardless of the cabin they’re flying in that day. A same-day boarding pass is required to enter the SWISS Alpine Lounge. When entering the lounge, there is a desk to check boarding passes straight ahead.

Anthony’s Take: The lounge was almost entirely empty during our visit. I loved how bright and spacious it was with many seating areas and a lovely room for the buffet. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our time in this lounge. The decor gives it a sense of place and it definitely has a lot of character, but not in an overdone way.

Seating & Decor

The lounge is around 5,400 square feet and seats 96 people. As mentioned above, it was almost completely empty when we visited. There are multiple rooms with different seating configurations.

Amenities

This lounge offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, and the food and beverages mentioned above.

Overall Impression:

This lounge is cute and quiet. It’s a nice addition to the airport and not too well known. I’ll definitely be coming back in the future.

Of note, they denied me last month (*G via UA) after LX irop’d us to A3 (also a Star Alliance member airline) saying that we MUST be flying on a Lufthansa Group carrier for access. We were directed to the Swiss Business lounge around the corner and up the escalator.

I find it amazing that LX operates 10 lounges at ZRH, when you see North American hubs operate what like 3-4??

Looks nice enough if a little austere. A shame about the limited hot food selections.
