Philippine Airlines operates several lounges at its Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) hub in Manila. Domestic flights operate out of Terminal 2. For our flight to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) we had some time to check out the Mabuhay Lounge in the Northwing near Gate 7. The terminal was insanely packed and the lounge was a nice way to get away even though it was also crowded.

Access

Access is granted to Business Class Passengers, Mabuhay Miles Million Miler (plus two guests), Mabuhay Miles Premier Elite (plus one guest), and Mabuhay Miles Elite travelers may access the lounge. Guests must be traveling on the same flight as the passenger who has access. A desk to check credentials was straight ahead as you enter the lounge.

Anthony’s Take: The Mabuhay Lounge felt crowded and was loud. We were able to find seats along with outlets. The food did not look too appealing, so we picked at Christmas cookies (these were out today, January 5th). The lounge offers a small buffet, a bar, newspapers and magazines, restrooms, a shower, and Wi-Fi. It’s better than sitting in the terminal, but don’t go in expecting a Delta One® Lounge.

Bar

A small bar was on the right side of the main section of the lounge. Coffee and beer were offered here.

Sodas were found in a refrigerator near the bar.

Apple juice, orange juice, and flavored water were also nearby.

Food

Lunch/dinner was being served when we visited the lounge. There were several sandwiches, salad ingredients, bread, fruit, desserts, and Arroz Caldo available.

Seating & Decor

There was a good amount of seating in the lounge. A separate section offered seats for Million Mile members. Spaces for relaxing and working were available. Even though there were a lot of people there, we found seats right away. The decor was pretty non-existent except for holiday decorations.

Amenities

The lounge offered free Wi-Fi, a shower suite (pictured above…it was locked and no attendant was there), restrooms, magazines and newspapers, as well as the food and beverages mentioned above.

Magazines and newspapers were near the entrance.

More were near the back of the lounge.

Overall Impression:

The lounge was able to accommodate all of the eligible passengers, but it felt crowded. Food and beverage choices are a bit limited, but the Wi-Fi worked well. The staff was also gracious while handling the situation with our seats being downgraded from Business Class to Comfort Class (more on that in the review).
