After being robbed in Como, we decided to head back to the United States the next morning. This meant that we were flying Air Dolomiti from Silvio Berlusconi Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) to Munich International Airport (MUC). Our first stop at the airport was the Lufthansa Business Lounge. I find something comforting in the familiarity of Lufthansa’s lounges. Wherever I am that has a Lufthansa Business or Senator Lounge, I know that I will see the same furniture, food, drinks, and decor. This consistency is appreciated and this lounge was just like others I have visited. There is no separation for those with access to a Senator versus Business Lounge here.
Anthony’s Take: We had a quick breakfast and relaxed before the first of several flights to get us home. We were not in good spirits after having all of our belongings taken, but were happy to spend some time in the comfortable space.
Access
Access is granted to passengers with Senator status through Miles & More, Star Alliance Gold status, or for those flying Lufthansa Group airlines in Business Class (including ITA Airways). Business Class passengers may not bring in any guests while Star Alliance Gold members may bring in one guest. All passengers must have a Lufthansa or Star Alliance airline flight departing from Silvio Berlusconi Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) on the same day. Those with the Platinum Card® from American Express are also permitted access. A check-in desk verifies credentials and grants access on the right side upon entry.
Bar
A bar offered wine, liquor, and beer with a bartender there to pour drinks. Coffee machines and soft drinks were found near the buffet.
A self-serve coffee machine, water, and orange juice were on offer at one beverage station.
Soda fountains, more water, and a second coffee machine were near the buffet.
Food
Breakfast was being served during our visit. The buffet is split into two sections and had several hot dishes, fruit, yogurt, bread, pastries, cereal, cold cuts, cheese, snacks, and more.
Scrambled eggs
Zucchini
Bacon
Potatoes
Salami and cheese
Pound cake
Assorted rolls
Croissants
Focaccia
Fruit and yogurt
Cereal
Snacks
Seating & Decor
The design of the lounge is pretty sparse, but I love it. It has lots of seating separated into several sections. The lounge was mostly empty during our visit. My favorite spot was one of the back walls that had wallpaper to look like bookshelves.
More seating
Smaller sections added privacy.
There was a TV in the lounge, but it was not switched on.
These banquettes were comfortable and in one of Lufthansa’s classic colors.
Amenities
This lounge offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, and the food and beverages mentioned above.
Overall Impression:
I love the consistency that Lufthansa’s lounges offer. They are always clean, bright, and have food that I want to eat. While they might be a bit austere for some, they make me happy to work and relax there before flights.
