We had just ended our time in Puglia and were on the way home. After landing from Brindisi Airport (BDS) (review here), we had some time before our flight to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) (review here) and decided to check out ITA Airways’ Hangar Lounge at Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO). The lounge just opened in April 2023 and the space is approximately 10,500 square feet with seating for 150 guests. It’s a nice space, but was very crowded when we visited.
Access
Access is granted to Business/Superior Class passengers (except for Superior Classic), Premium and Executive members of the Volare program, and SkyTeam Elite Plus members departing to domestic and international destinations in the Schengen area. We were traveling in Business Class and also hold SkyTeam Elite Plus status thanks to our Medallion status with Delta Air Lines.
Anthony’s Take: I loved the design of this lounge. It felt very Italian with a huge wall of Campari bottles and a sleek overall design. The food was good and it was a nice spot to wait for our flight to Frankfurt Airport (FRA). My only complaint was that the lounge was incredibly crowded and we could not find seating for the first 10 minutes.
Bar
There is a huge bar in the center of the lounge with wine, liquor, beer, and soft drinks as well as a barista. The bar is the focal point of the room and a shiny, modern element (kind of like an Italian sports car).
The center of the bar is filled with a wall of Campari bottles.
A barista was at the bar to make coffee for travelers on demand.
Food
Lunch/dinner was being served during our visit. Food is found on the back side of the bar. Pasta, meats, cheeses, bread, and salad ingredients were being offered during our visit.
Pasta was the star of the buffet.
I added some mini mozzarella balls to mine.
I think these were falafel (not very Italian).
Various meats and cheeses
More meat
Salad ingredients
Bread
Seating & Decor
As mentioned above, the lounge is around 10,500 square feet and has a good amount of seating. It was completely packed when we arrived, but the crowd thinned in the hour we were there.
We found this spot to sit in. It was comfortable enough for the two of us.
There are multiple seating configurations throughout the lounge.
Dining tables are behind the bar and to its side.
Phone booths are located in the back of the lounge.
Amenities
This lounge offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, and the food and beverages mentioned above. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly speedy and we enjoyed our meal.
Overall Impression:
This lounge is a good space to relax and work before flights within Italy or the Schengen area. It can be busy, but it’s a pleasant lounge that I hope to visit again.

I believe those are arancini (very Italian). 🙂
I thought that too, but in tasting one there was no rice.
