The Austrian Airlines Lounge houses three separate areas inside: Business Class, Senator, and HON Circle/First Class. Due to my Star Alliance Gold status (from being Premier 1K® with United Airlines), I was able to use the Senator Lounge near the F Gates where Schengen Area flights depart. The lounge was packed when we arrived, but cleared out shortly after. It offered a small buffet, a decent selection of beverages, and space to work before the flight. I had previously referred the HON Circle/First Class lounge here.

Anthony’s Take: I enjoyed lunch in the lounge and found some space to get some work done. It gets crowded, but still felt comfortable. I appreciated the phone booths as I needed to make a call and the lounge itself was a bit loud at that time.

You need to go upstairs and then down a long hallway to reach the lounge.

Access

Access is granted to passengers with Senator status through Miles & More or Star Alliance Gold status. Both are allowed to bring one guest, but all passengers must have an Austrian or Star Alliance airline flight departing from Vienna International Airport (VIE) on the same day. A check-in desk verifies credentials and grants access to one of the three areas.

Food

Lunch/dinner was being served during our visit. The buffet had several hot dishes served by an attendant, soup, cold cuts, salad ingredients, snacks, and desserts. I must have been tired as I did not take as many pictures as I usually do.

Hot items were served at a separate counter. These included meatballs and gnocchi. Both were very tasty.

There were quite a few jars of snacks.

Seating & Decor

The design of the lounge is pretty sparse. It has lots of seating separated into several sections. We took two separate chairs when we entered and moved to two together later.

Seats were great for working and relaxing with lots of outlets.

There were plenty of tables near the buffet.

Amenities

This lounge offers free Wi-Fi, departure boards, restrooms, two phone booths, and the food and beverages mentioned above.

The phone booths are great for video and phone calls.

Overall Impression:

This lounge was good for passing some time before our flight. The food and drinks were quite tasty and there is lots of seating. I’d be happy to return in the future.

We all make typographical errors, but sometimes one, if intentional, would be very clever: ” Red and white wine was available on the bar for guests to poor for themselves”.
