On the way home from our trip to Corfu and Albania, we had the chance to check out another lounge at Manchester Airport (MAN). Our Singapore Airlines flight was departing from Terminal 2. This terminal also houses other international airlines like Qatar Airways and Etihad. The 1903 Lounge is a lounge within a lounge as an Escape Lounge is located next to it and handles check-in for both.

To access the lounge in Terminal 2, you need to take the elevator to 4.

Then you’ll need to walk down a fairly long hallway to reach the check-in for both lounges.

Access

A desk is on the right side upon entering the lounge to check credentials. The desk handles those going to the Escape Lounge as well as the 1903 Lounge. The attendant quickly wrote us a pass to enter the lounge and we were on our way in.

MAN Lounge Booking

Like the Escape Lounge that I reviewed in Terminal 3 (more here), this Escape Lounge also requires reservations. I had never heard of booking a lounge reservation in advance before visiting the other one, but sure enough the site offers them. The cost is £35.99 if you don’t have Priority Pass or DragonPass. Even with a Priority Pass or DragonPass card, you need to book a reservation online here. The 1903 Lounge is only for invited guests flying Business Class on several airlines (Singapore Airlines being one of them). Space permitting, you can access the 1903 Lounge with Priority Pass and by paying an additional fee upon arrival. Children are not permitted in this lounge.

Anthony’s Take: This is a nice lounge with self-serve drinks, a buffet, and plenty of space to relax or work before a flight. It was fairly busy when we visited, but did not feel crowded.

Bar

There are two round bars near the buffet. Liquor, beer, wine, and soft drinks were all self serve. The first one held beer and soft drinks.

Food

Breakfast was being served during our visit. Food is found on a buffet right inside the front of the 1903 Lounge entrance. This included some hot dishes, cereals, yogurt, pastries, and more. Omelettes and other hot dishes can be ordered, but this was not promoted. I overheard someone do this while we were there.

Seating & Decor

As mentioned above, the lounge was crowded when we were there, but we had no issues finding a seat. There are tables and chairs around the space in different configurations, but decor is limited. Architecturally, the lounge has a fun design. I liked the clocks above.

Amenities

This lounge offers free Wi-Fi, magazines, restrooms, and the food and beverages mentioned above.

The Wi-Fi was speedy and I was able to do some work while we waited.

Restrooms were located near the lounge entrance.

Overall Impression:

This lounge is a good size and has a tasty buffet. Seating was plentiful and I like that children are not allowed in this lounge.

How do you make a reservation with priority pass and not pre-pay?
