LOT Polish Airlines has launched onboard Wi-Fi service on its first Boeing 787-9. This marks the beginning of a broader rollout of in-flight connectivity across the carrier’s long-haul fleet.

The service debuted on one aircraft and will be expanded to additional Boeing 787-9s in the coming months. LOT says two more Boeing 787 aircraft are scheduled to receive the technology by the end of April as part of a phased installation plan. The airline is using Viasat’s next-generation connectivity platform, Viasat Amara, to deliver internet service during flights.

The introduction of Wi-Fi represents another step in LOT’s effort to enhance the onboard experience for long-haul passengers. The airline says the move responds to growing passenger demand for continuous connectivity during travel. With the new system, passengers will be able to stay connected with family and colleagues, work remotely, browse the web, and access online entertainment while in the air. LOT has introduced two paid connectivity packages designed to accommodate different passenger needs.

  • The Chat package ($7) allows passengers to send and receive messages using popular messaging applications.
  • The Streaming package ($29) provides broader internet access for browsing websites, watching videos, and performing online work tasks during the flight.

Passengers traveling in LOT Business Class will receive complimentary Wi-Fi access (along with select frequent flyers who hold qualifying status within the Miles & More loyalty program across participating airlines). The airline says the tiered package structure allows passengers to tailor connectivity to their needs, whether they want basic messaging access or a full internet browsing experience throughout the flight.

LOT plans to continue installing the Wi-Fi system across its Boeing 787 fleet as it expands onboard connectivity options for long-haul passengers in the coming months.

Anthony’s Take: Not having Wi-Fi in 2026 makes an airline seem antiquated. It’s good to see LOT getting this rolling.
