World of Hyatt® has finally added a feature that members have been wanting for years. Suite Upgrade and Club Access Awards can now be applied to reservations online, which means that members no longer need to call in order to use these and can handle the application themselves on Hyatt’s website or through the Hyatt app.
One of my favorite perks from holding World of Hyatt® Globalist status are the Suite Upgrade Awards. These allow me to upgrade my stay (up to seven nights) at booking into a suite. This takes the guesswork out of applying for a suite out of the equation (unlike Marriott’s Nightly Upgrade Awards, which keep you guessing until the end and are more often denied than accepted). The only downside to using these upgrades was that I had to call Hyatt every time. I love when I can do things online and would never speak to another customer service representative again if I didn’t have to get something done with them.
Lucky at One Mile at a Time first shared that this functionality was live and I literally clapped while in flight today. Members need to be logged into their World of Hyatt accounts, search to book a reservation as they normally would, and when the results pop up they should see upgrade options. The site lets guests know if a Standard Suite is available. I tried a test booking at the Park Hyatt New York and it worked perfectly.
Guest of Honor and Club Access Awards can also be applied, but Globalists are warned that they do not need to apply these in order to receive the benefits.
Anthony’s Take: This is so exciting and long overdue. I’m thrilled that Hyatt has upgraded its tech capabilities and I may never call them again. Thanks for the early Christmas present, Hyatt.
