The Confidante Miami Beach was part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, but it might be most famous for being the setting of Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” music video. I stayed at the hotel in 2023 and found the experience a mixed bag (full review here). It’s perfectly located for enjoying the beach, but service and elite benefits were not good. It underwent a huge renovation and is now finally reopened as the Andaz Miami Beach. The property was originally supposed to open in late 2024, this got pushed to March, and now it’s finally open.
The hotel was sold in 2022 for $232 million and underwent a $60 million renovation last year. It closed in March 2024 for construction to begin. Now that it’s complete, the hotel has a “first-of-its-kind ocean view check-in experience,” a refreshed outdoor pool area with two pools and private cabanas, and three food and beverage outlets handled by the José Andrés Group. Aguasal and Bar Centro are currently open and The Bazaar by José Andrés will debut later this year. The spa and a members’ beach club will open later this year.
The Andaz was designed by EoA Group alongside the Hyatt Lifestyle Group’s in-house design team and is owned by Sunstone Hotel Investors. The property features 287 guestrooms with 64 spacious suites that offer views of the ocean or the Miami skyline.
Amar Lalvani, President & Creative Director of the Lifestyle Group at Hyatt, said:
“It’s a place where you arrive and never want to leave. The setting is perfect, the feeling is effortlessly cool, the music is always just right, and with José Andrés involved, you know the food and drink will be on point.”
This will be the first Andaz hotel in Florida and will increase Hyatt’s brand footprint in Miami Beach. The Andaz brand is still one of Hyatt’s smaller footprints with only 31 properties worldwide. I am a big fan of the brand and the Andaz 5th Avenue remains one of my favorite hotels. I like the modern design, benefits offered to Globalists, and little touches provided to all guests (like the complimentary mini bar snacks and non-alcoholic beverages).
The property is a World of Hyatt® Category 6 hotel. This means that redemptions for standard rooms will cost 21,000 to 29,000 points per night. This is a good value since paid rates are generally over $800 per night.
Anthony’s Take: The hotel looks gorgeous and I can’t wait to check it out. It was in need of a renovation and it’s good to see the newish owners are investing properly to make it shine.
