TAP Air Portugal is upping the game on its award-winning Portugal Stopover program with a new offer: travelers can now enjoy a second stopover within Portugal at 50% off airfare. This doubles down on the already complimentary first stopover. The limited-time promotion is available for bookings made through September 8th (for travel beginning September 1st).
With TAP’s popular Stopover program, passengers can extend their journey with up to 10 days in either Lisbon or Porto while traveling to one of TAP’s destinations across Europe and Africa. Under normal circumstances, a second stopover would be offered at a 25% discount, but that discount is being doubled to provide more flexibility for those eager to explore the country’s diverse landscapes, food, and culture.
The half-price second stopover applies to a variety of domestic routes, making it easier than ever to discover multiple parts of Portugal in one trip. Travelers can take advantage of this promotion when booking through TAP’s site, the TAP Air Portugal app, or through a travel agent.
Eligible routes for the second stopover discount include flights between Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) or Porto’s Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) and the following Portuguese destinations:
- Faro International Airport (FAO)
- Funchal’s Madeira Airport (FNC)
- John Paul II Ponta Delgada Airport (PDL)
- Porto Santo Airport (PXO)
- Terceira’s Lajes Airport (TER)
The Portugal Stopover program has become a favorite among travelers seeking to maximize their time in Europe. TAP makes travel more affordable and provides passengers the chance to experience the country’s cities, coastlines, and island escapes, all in one trip.
Aside from flights within Portugal, TAP’s international connectivity continues to grow. This winter, the airline will operate more than 1,050 weekly flights to 80 cities in 30 countries. The carrier’s global footprint includes:
- 10 destinations in North America
- 12 in Central and South America
- 13 in Africa and the Middle East
- 45 in Europe (including six in Portugal)
From North America alone, TAP offers 77 weekly flights:
- 60 flights from seven major US cities, including:
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
- Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
- Miami International Airport (MIA)
- Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
It also offers 12 flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and five flights from Cancún International Airport (CUN).
Anthony’s Take: To take advantage of the 50% second stopover offer, travelers must book by September 8th. Portugal is a beautiful country and one that I have been to many times. There is a lot to see and some incredible meals to be had there.
