Korean Air announced this week that it is making some major changes to its lounges at Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) and other locations like Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Lounges will see expansion, service enhancements, and elevated experiences.
At Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN), Korean Air will renovate the existing lounges in Terminal 2. New “Prestige Class Garden Lounges” are being built in both the east and west wings. These will accommodate increased passenger numbers coming from the relocation of Asiana Airlines. The existing Prestige Class Lounge in the east wing will be doubled in size and the Miler Club Lounge will also be expanded. All four lounges will open in phases starting in August 2025.
The First Class Lounge and Prestige Class Lounge in the west wing will also be renovated and plan to reopen in April 2026. Korean Air will eventually operate six lounges at Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN). This expands the overall lounge capacity by 2.5x and doubles seating capacity. These spaces will go from 5,000 square meters to 15,000 square meters and seating increases from 900 to 1,600.
Food and beverage services will be significantly improved across all lounges with live kitchen stations as ell as bartenders and baristas to prepare cocktails, wines, and coffee beverages on-site. Dedicated bakeries and patisseries will serve croissants, pizzas, and desserts across the lounges and a signature noodle bar will offer other freshly prepared dishes.
The lounges at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will undergo complete redesigns to incorporate city-themed atmospheres and more amenities as well.
Korean Air is further enhancing the airport lounge experience with a new feature in its mobile app. The update will provide passengers real-time information on lounge locations, amenities, reservations, and crowd levels.
Anthony’s Take: It’s great to see Korean Air investing in its lounges. Some of these new additions like the noodle bar sound great. Between this and the new livery, Korean is set to start its next chapter.
