JetBlue has had a chaotic year. Between changes in management, a failed bid to buy Spirit Airlines, and the dissolution of its Northeast Alliance with American Airlines, the carrier has seen a lot of turmoil. It’s working to turn things around and that has meant adding routes, but also cutting some (18 got hacked last month) and exiting airports altogether. Now, JetBlue is pulling back 27% of its flights to/from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

Aviation watchdog, @JonNYC shared the news on X. Winter 2024 will see the following routes cut down:

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) (losing three weekly flights)
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) (losing one weekly flight)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (remaining off of the schedule)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO) (losing one weekly flight)
  • Palm Beach International Airport (MCO) (losing one weekly flight)
  • Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) (losing one weekly flight and being removed from the schedule)

This brings the current number of planned flights from 27 to 20. Service to New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) was supposed to resume after being suspended in January 2024, but it will not return.

Anthony’s Take: JetBlue continues to make tough decisions to try to get its business to a better place. These cuts along with others, adding Mint (Business Class) service to more routes, and some other changes will hopefully be enough to keep the airline going.
