Back in June, I wrote about JetBlue Airways announcing that it would begin flying to/from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) to a trio of Florida destinations. The low-cost carrier touts that since it’s the only New York-based airline that it’s a natural extension to begin serving Long Island. It already flies to/from John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Those flights begin today.

Beginning today and tomorrow, JetBlue will commence service to Orlando International Airport (MCO), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI). Flights to Orlando will operate daily while the other two routes will be 4x weekly. Fort Lauderdale flights will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. West Palm Beach will see flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

JetBlue’s service from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) will operate using Airbus A320 aircraft. These offer the airline’s fast, free Wi-Fi, complimentary snacks and drinks, and seatback entertainment at every seat.

Dave Jehn, JetBlue’s Vice President of Network Planning and Airline Partnerships, said:

Long Island is an integral part of the New York Metro area, and we are excited to bring our award-winning service to customers in this community. The addition of Long Island MacArthur Airport to our network will offer more options and greater convenience for customers, and we are proud to provide new opportunities for more Long Islanders to experience our unique combination of low fares and great service.”

Anthony’s Take: JetBlue has been serving New York for more than 24 years and this expansion into Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) will be a welcome addition for locals looking to escape the cold this winter.
