JetBlue announced today that it’s the first airline to accept Venmo as a source of payment for online bookings. This is available on Jetblue.com and will be coming to the app in the near future.

The New York-based carrier has always been a bit tech forward with it being one of the first airlines to offer free Wi-Fi. Its mobile app offers features like a countdown to boarding on phone lock screens and more. While United has the industry’s best mobile app in my opinion, JetBlue’s offering is pretty good.

Carol Clements, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at JetBlue, said:

We’re continually looking for ways to make it easier to book a JetBlue flight on our website and mobile app. Adding Venmo offers a seamless payment option for customers who enjoy the ease and convenience of the Venmo platform.”

Anthony’s Take: Venmo is a convenient way to send money between friends and others. I have yet to use it for purchases, but can see the appeal for those without a credit card or looking to book a flight when they do not have their cards on them.
