Last month, I wrote about  JetBlue (the largest US carrier serving the Dominican Republic) and how it was deepening its cultural ties to the country with the launch of “RD Orgullo que Eleva.” The campaign invited customers to choose the design for the airline’s first-ever Dominican Republic-inspired aircraft livery. The initiative also highlighted JetBlue’s more than 20 years of service to the country. Well, now the winner has been announced.

JetBlue DR Artists

The campaign centered around three custom aircraft designs created by Dominican artists who drew from national folklore, music, color, everyday life, and cultural pride to produce unique interpretations of Dominican identity. To craft its first Dominican Republic–focused livery, JetBlue collaborated with three renowned Dominican creatives, underscoring the airline’s commitment to celebrating local talent. Each artist was compensated for their work, and while all three designs emphasized cultural heritage and identity, only one won.

Willy Gómez is an illustrator, muralist, and art director whose style blends Neo-traditional and Art Nouveau influences. His design showcased music, coastal scenery, and nature in bold, vibrant colors. It was chosen through votes as the winner.

Marty St. George, President of JetBlue, said:

We’re proud to bring Dominican pride to the skies with JetBlue’s first livery dedicated to the Dominican Republic, designed by Willy Gómez and chosen by the community. This aircraft is a celebration of the culture, creativity, and energy of a country that has played a central role in JetBlue’s history. From opening Santiago, our first international destination in 2004, to becoming the largest airline serving the Dominican Republic, we are excited to celebrate more than two decades of service and connection.”

Anthony’s Take: As I’m always saying, I love custom liveries. This one is bold and fun. I think it has the perfect Caribbean vibe.
