JetBlue and TAP Air Portugal announced today that members of both JetBlue’s TrueBlue and TAP’s Miles&Go loyalty programs will soon see reciprocal mileage earning and redemption benefits between the two airlines.
This partnership marks the first time that JetBlue TrueBlue members can earn and redeem miles on on one of JetBlue’s European partner airlines and also opens up JetBlue flights to TAP’s Miles&Go members. Passengers can now earn and redeem TrueBlue points to destinations like Lisbon as well as destinations in Africa and beyond through TAP’s route network. Those traveling to the United States will be able to earn and redeem for connections onward from the cities that TAP serves.
Chris Buckner, Vice President of Loyalty and Partnerships at JetBlue, said:
We continue to look for more ways to reward our customers and provide them with the high-value travel experiences and point-earning opportunities they love from JetBlue. This partnership expansion provides both TrueBlue and TAP Miles&Go members more ways to earn and redeem on travel, more options to tailor their travel journey, and makes exploring both networks even more rewarding.”
Sofia Lufinha, Chief Customer Officer at TAP Air Portugal, added:
We value this cooperation that will enable our customers extended ways to earn and redeem, through an extended airline network. We look forward to achieving milestones together.”
Anthony’s Take: Could JetBlue be angling for Star Alliance membership? TAP Air Portugal is a member and this coupled with rumors that United is looking at the JetBlue for some reason and sharing this with its other Star Alliance partners makes me wonder. For now, we just have take the announcement as it is: an opportunity to earn and redeem miles across programs.
