JetBlue announced today that its flights between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) in Traverse City, Michigan are ready for this summer. The new route takes to the skies for the first time today and is offered on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays through October 25th.

Traverse City is a popular tourist destination and connecting it to Boston makes it easier for travelers to get there through JetBlue’s extensive connection opportunities in its Massachusetts hub. Cherry orchards are in full bloom and this leads to festivals and the incorporation of cherries into just about everything. The new route is offering one-way tickets for as low as $69.

David Jehn, Vice President Network Plan and Airline Partnerships at JetBlue, said:

Traverse City might be one of the best-kept summer secrets, and JetBlue is excited to make it more accessible to travelers. This new route reflects our commitment to connecting more people to unique and underserved destinations. By adding Traverse City to our map, we’re not only opening the door for New Englanders to discover Northern Michigan’s natural beauty but also giving locals easier access to Boston and JetBlue’s broader network.”

Kevin Klein, CEO of Cherry Capital Airport, added:

We’re thrilled to welcome JetBlue to the TVC route map! This exciting addition enhances our connectivity to Boston and the East Coast, opening new opportunities for both regional travelers and visitors discovering all that northern Michigan has to offer.”

Anthony’s Take: I have never been to Traverse City, but have heard good things. It’s great to see JetBlue focused on leisure markets and I’m excited that if I were to take this flight in the future, I might be able to earn miles on United Airlines (once the partnership is live).
