The W Rome marked the brand’s debut in Italy in December 2021. This week, Italy’s second location, the W Florence opened for reservations with the first guests being accepted on June 15th. The hotel is located in the Piazza dell’Unitá Italiana by the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella and offers a great location for tourists looking to explore the city.

The property was originally supposed to open in March, but that date has slipped. Room design looks modern and elegant with the design principles employed at other new and refreshed W Hotels seen here.

Amenities are rather limited for a W Hotel, but include a fitness center, meeting space, and an on-site restaurant known as Akira Back. The restaurant is described as “a dynamic celebration of Japanese cuisine’s evolution.” It’s interesting to note that the hotel only lists one restaurant as W Hotels usually have at least one in addition to the brand standard Living Room bar.

Cash rates start range from  €418 to €722 with Marriott Bonvoy® point redemptions coming up between 70,000 and 121,000 per night for a standard room.

Anthony’s Take: I love the W brand and hope to check out this property in the future. The refreshed brand design is so much less 1990s club and more modern elegant. I love the style and the direction that the brand has been taken.
