IHG Hotels & Resorts has debuted five new resorts this year and is expected to open 32 more in the next few years across Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean in its luxury and lifestyle brands. When complete, this will double the number of properties in the region for IHG.

Six Senses

Six Senses focuses on wellness and sustainability experiences set in the world’s most beautiful beaches and landscapes. Six Senses La Segesse opened in April and future properties are coming to Grand Bahama and Xala (along Mexico’s Pacific Coast). The two newest under this brand will open by 2026.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts claims to be the world’s first and largest luxury hotel brand. It has the largest presence in the region with 20 open properties currently. Last year, the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Nature Spa opened in Dominica. The InterContinental Presidente Monterrey will open in Mexico later this year and in 2025, IHG will welcome the  InterContinental Grenada Resort.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants offer guests unique, design-inspired hotels. The Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa opened in Honduras last year. The Kimpton Virgilio opened in Mexico City’s Polanquito neighborhood in February. Last month, the Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa started hosting guests in the coastal town of Todos Santos on Mexico’s Baja Sur peninsula. The 130-room Kimpton Las Mercedes (located in the Dominican Republic’s Santo Domingo) will open this summer and be followed by the Kimpton Tres Ríos Riviera Maya by the end of 2024.

Vignette Collection

The Vignette Collection is IHG’s newest luxury and lifestyle brand. It debuted in 2021. The brand’s first property in both Mexico and within the Americas, the 83-room El Gran Encomendero in the Yucatán Peninsula, will be coming to the historic town of Valladolid in 2025.

Hotel Indigo

Hotel Indigo draws inspiration from “each hotel’s surrounding neighborhood and culture to create a warm and vibrant atmosphere that inspires guests to discover something new.” The Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman on Grand Cayman’s famed Seven Mile Beach just opened for guests.  Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés, located between the Sea of Cortez and La Paz Bay in Mexico opened in January and the Hotel Indigo Tijuana is slated for later this year.

IHG Turks 1

Earlier this month, I wrote about three new properties in Turks & Caicos. These include InterContinental Hotels & ResortsKimpton Hotels & Restaurants, and Hotel Indigo. All are set to open by 2027.

Leanne Harwood, SVP, Managing Director for Luxury & Lifestyle Americas at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:

The significant expansion of our luxury and lifestyle portfolio across the MexicoLatin America and Caribbean markets demonstrates our brands continue to not only be in demand, but are also embraced for their distinct offerings. From spectacular retreats at Six Senses and storied heritage at InterContinental to laid-back luxury at Kimpton, boutique neighborhood settings at Hotel Indigo and one-of-a-kind stays at Vignette Collection, each one opens the door to more destinations than ever before.”

Anthony’s Take: I don’t stay at IHG hotels often, but some of these additions look great. I especially like having options in smaller cities and islands where there historically have not been many mainstream brands.
