Hyatt is expanding its family-friendly all-inclusive portfolio with plans to open Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana in 2029 (this large new resort development in the Dominican Republic will be Hyatt’s second there under the Ziva brand). The new property will become one of the flagship resorts in Hyatt’s all-inclusive lineup and will add another destination to the brand’s ever-growing presence in the Caribbean.

Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana is expected to feature 650 guestrooms and suites. This will make it one of the largest resorts in the Hyatt Ziva brand portfolio. While the resort will primarily focus on family-friendly travel, it will also include a dedicated adults-only building. The resort will be located about 40 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) to provide convenient access for international travelers visiting the popular Caribbean destination. Although images of the resort have not yet been released, Hyatt has outlined an extensive list of planned amenities (the photo above is of the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana.)

The resort will feature five swimming pools, including an adults-only pool and a separate pool designed specifically for children. Guests can also expect a full water park (along with a variety of recreational options such as pickleball and tennis courts). For families, the property will include numerous entertainment and activity options including a kids club, teens club, mini golf, climbing walls, playgrounds, ropes courses, fire pits, and even a bowling alley. These features are designed to appeal to travelers of all ages while still offering quieter spaces for adults.

Dining will be a major highlight at the new resort, with a total of 12 food and beverage venues planned. The resort is expected to include five specialty restaurants, a buffet serving international cuisine, snack venues, a coffee shop, an ice cream venue, and a beach club offering food and drinks throughout the day. Guests will also find six bars serving international and domestic spirits (along with a juice bar located at the spa). Kids will also have access to an interactive food and beverage experience designed specifically for younger guests.

Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana will also focus on wellness experiences. The resort will feature a fitness center, yoga studio and outdoor gym facilities. The spa will offer a variety of relaxation amenities including sauna and steam rooms, a hammam, hydrotherapy circuit, and a relaxation lounge. Guests will also be able to book spa treatments and access services such as a beauty salon and bridal suite for weddings and special events.

Travelers looking to experience the brand before the Punta Cana resort opens still have several options. Existing properties include Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, Hyatt Ziva Cancun, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, and Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall in Jamaica (which is currently closed for renovations).

Hyatt continues to grow its all-inclusive footprint in the region. In addition to Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana, the company plans to open Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana and Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana in 2026. These developments further strengthen Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection portfolio, which now includes more than 150 resorts and over 55,000 rooms across Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe.

Javier Águila, President of the Inclusive Collection at Hyatt, said:

We are delighted by the trust placed in us by a valued owner like Codelpa, and by the opportunity to further strengthen our already solid portfolio in the Dominican Republic. Hyatt currently has 34 hotels – 32 of them all-inclusive resorts – and nearly 17,000 rooms in the country. This is a clear reflection not only of our scale, but also of our long-standing commitment to a destination that is central to our past, present and future strategy in the Caribbean.”

Anthony’s Take: I often say that I’m. not into all-inclusive resorts and I proved that to myself again last month in Punta Cana (review coming soon). If this is your scene, this will be yet another option from Hyatt. It has worked to dominate that space in the Caribbean and the plan seems to be working.
