Andaz is a fun and funky brand. In my eyes, it’s Hyatt’s version of a W Hotel. I’ve stayed many times at the Andaz 5th Avenue in New York and recently checked out the Andaz Costa Rica Resort At Peninsula Papagayo (review here). I am a fan of the brand and happy to see it continuing to grow. Hyatt recently announced that The Confidante Miami Beach (review here) will be rebranded as an Andaz property and reopened soon. Now, Hyatt is bringing the Andaz brand to Australia with the country’s first location in the Gold Coast.
Andaz Gold Coast will be part of an integrated resort masterplan known as The Star Gold Coast. It’s slated to open in mid-2025 and is the first Andaz in not only Australia, but the Pacific region.
David Udell, Group President of Asia Pacific at Hyatt, said:
We are thrilled to announce plans to bring the Andaz brand to Australia’s premier resort destination in collaboration with The Star Gold Coast. Hyatt has had a brand presence in Australia for over 40 years, and we are excited to expand our luxury, lifestyle and leisure offerings into sought-after destinations like the Gold Coast. This resort will complement our current portfolio of 10 hotels under five distinct brands in Australia, including Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric and Hyatt Place.”
Andaz Gold Coast will be situated at The Star Gold Coast. The mixed-use development is located on Broadbeach Island. It provides convenient access to sandy beaches, rainforests, and theme parks. Guests can also enjoy upscale shopping at the nearby Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and direct connectivity to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Andaz will occupy floors six to 21 of the 65-story second tower with 202 guest rooms and suites, a fitness center, and three food and beverage outlets. The expansive outdoor pool deck on level six will overlook Broadbeach and include a cocktail bar, a beach club with private cabanas, and al fresco dining. The Andaz Lounge will offer an all-day space for guests to enjoy a drink or snack. The hotel’s design is focused on the theme, “Chase the Sun,” which is inspired by sunlight of the Gold Coast. Once fully open, The Star Gold Coast will be one of Australia’s largest integrated multi-tower resorts.
Anthony’s Take: When I was last in the area, I stayed in the W Brisbane (this is in the closest major city). It’s exciting to see an Andaz coming to the Gold Coast.
