Hyatt has tons of brands and sometimes these blend together. It’s no secret that it wants to dominate the all-inclusive space in the Caribbean. It’s $2.7 billion acquisition of Apple Leisure Group in 2021 added more than 100 properties to the portfolio and since then it has continued to open more. One of its newest brands, Hyatt Vivid, is planning to open its second location this year in the Dominican Republic with the first currently ready for guests in Mexico.
Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana will offer adult travelers an all-inclusive vacation “that prioritizes flexibility over formality. The resort will feature locally inspired itineraries, experiential-driven programming, and amenities that appeal to a modern, diverse set of guests seeking aesthetics-inspired resorts.” The focus of the Hyatt Vivid brand is on living well and guests will have access to the spa, four pools, indoor and outdoor gyms, pickleball and tennis courts, and a juice and healthy snack bar.
Antonio Fungairino, Head of Development for Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, said:
We are pleased to further strengthen the Hyatt Vivid Hotels & Resorts brand portfolio with Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana. Hyatt’s continued brand expansion in the region, from the sought-after beach towns of Playa Esmeralda, Punta Cana, Cap Cana, and beyond, reinforces the Dominican Republic’s status as a premier destination for high-end hospitality, while reinforcing Hyatt’s leadership in the all-inclusive segment.”
Anthony’s Take: While I am not a fan of all-inclusive resorts, the market continues to grow and Hyatt has many more in its pipeline. These have evolved from the old vacation-factory feeling to more bespoke options based on guests’ interests.
